Beginning your review of Living with Art

This is the textbook chosen for my Fine art Appreciation form. I have taken (and dropped) the form before and the previous textbook was the standard deadening affair. I have to say that I'm rather impressed by this volume, enough so that I may not want to role with it at the finish of the semester (even though I could use the money). It is aesthetically pleasing; information technology'due south sad how many art textbooks exist that aren't. The chapters are amazingly to-the-bespeak, without needless repetition, summarizations, or end-of This is the textbook chosen for my Fine art Appreciation class. I accept to say that I'yard rather impressed by this book, plenty and so that I may non want to part with it at the cease of the semester (fifty-fifty though I could employ the coin). Art class required reading and I accept to say it was very well written, engaging, and fabricated this business organization major savour learning and reading about art.

I take worked with a lot of art history books, but I had to try to teach from this one. It has no society to information technology. It merely flops whatever it wants in with whatever else. Equally an offshoot instructor I did non appreciate how it was structured at all. 2.five. I'm being generous with that.
And let'southward not forget all disciplines are required to take it. Some ppl aren't art ppl. And so why not commencement with cave drawings and build ... and then so in an interesting way...
anyway. Not my favorite for pedagogy or reading. I have worked with a lot of art history books, only I had to try to teach from this one. It has no order to it. It just flops whatsoever information technology wants in with whatsoever else. As an adjunct instructor I did not capeesh how it was structured at all. two.5. I'one thousand being generous with that.

You'd think an fine art history book would have color, but everything in this is white 🤔

I have had zero time for fun reads, information technology'south trip planning and school. This is one of the ones the gets looped into schoolhouse. I gave information technology two stars because I feel like I can't objectively say like "oh hey this is horrid and I detest information technology", even though, that would be a valid argument. It'south very dry, just I'm not an art major, I have no pursuit in going further on art study than what I take to. I have my artists that I enjoy and those I stumble into but I don't brand a hobby out of fine art history. Information technology's not my thi I have had goose egg time for fun reads, it'south trip planning and school. This is i of the ones the gets looped into schoolhouse. Its a text book so information technology isnt equally entertaining as some books might exist. However i did bask it and how they had sidebars almost artists and movements that were central. Pictures of the fine art was great.

Splendid overview of techniques, styles, and periods.

This was actually a very skilful read, for a textbook. Information presented in a concise and easily captivated fashion. Neat pictures throughout!

Fantabulous basic text for fine art history, especially for someone unfamiliar with the area of written report.

Read for an intro to art higher class. The grade skipped a few capacity, but I really enjoyed this volume and this class.

This book gives a condensed only neat history of art. I enjoyed reading (and taking the class). Textbook. Skipped a few chapters not assigned.

Read this textbook for a college Art History class. Some of the capacity drag on with so much info doping. However this was still a skilful art volume with articulate images.

I had to used this book for my Art 100 class at #EssexCountyCollege. The pictures weren't large enough. For a book that is meant to help y'all capeesh fine art, the illustrations were gloomy, unclear and lacked any vibrance whatsoever. I, too, had to read this for schoolhouse. I did not accept to read comprehend to embrace merely nigh 90-95% is a good estimate.
